WTWatch policies
Privacy Policy
Your streaming discoveries should stay personal. This policy outlines how we gather information, what we do with it, and the controls you have across WTWatch products.
Last updated: 15 August 2024
Data we collect
- •Account basics such as email address, preferred language, and authentication tokens.
- •Activity signals including saved titles, reminder preferences, and page analytics aggregated through Google Analytics when you consent.
- •Profile information you provide such as your name or display name when you sign up for newsletters or community features.
- •Voluntary submissions like feedback form responses or newsletter sign-ups.
How we use your data
- •Deliver personalised watchlists, release alerts, and editorial recommendations.
- •Improve discovery features and maintain platform reliability through anonymised analytics.
- •Communicate product updates, security notices, and transactional emails related to your account.
Third-party services
- •WTWatch uses Google Analytics to understand aggregate usage patterns. When enabled, Google processes your IP address and device information to generate reports for us.
- •Google Analytics terms apply when data is collected. Review them at Google Analytics Terms of Service and Google's privacy notice at Google Privacy Policy.
- •We use CoolLikes to power social interactions and engagement counters. CoolLikes processes pseudonymous identifiers to track likes and reactions.
- •We use Mailchimp (operated by Intuit Inc.) to manage subscriber lists and deliver newsletters; Mailchimp stores your email address, name, and engagement metrics like opens or clicks.
- •Our hosting and delivery partners (including Vercel) may temporarily process log data to keep the service running securely.
When we share data
- •Service providers who help us operate WTWatch—such as Vercel, Google Analytics, and email delivery partners—under strict processing terms.
- •Mailchimp, which stores newsletter subscriber details and engagement metrics so we can send WTWatch newsletters and manage preferences.
- •CoolLikes, which processes pseudonymous identifiers to keep track of likes and other community interactions.
- •Legal requests when we are required to comply with applicable laws or protect WTWatch, its users, or the public.
- •Never with advertisers for remarketing, and never with third parties who intend to sell your data.
Your choices and controls
You can access, update, or delete your account data from the WTWatch Account dashboard. Account deletion immediately removes watchlists, reminders, and saved preferences from your profile. If you need additional assistance, email privacy@wtwatch.in and we will respond within 30 days.
You can opt out of analytics cookies using the consent banner in the footer, or by adjusting cookie settings in your browser. If you decline analytics, we stop sending events to Google Analytics. Opting out may limit personalised recommendations but WTWatch core features will continue to work.
Rights of data subjects
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access the data we hold about you, request corrections, restrict processing, object to certain uses, or ask us to delete your data. You can exercise most of these controls from the WTWatch Account dashboard, including deleting your account or exporting data, or by contacting privacy@wtwatch.in.
We respond to verified requests within 30 days. If you believe your request has not been handled properly, you can escalate to the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) or your local data protection authority.
Cookies and tracking
WTWatch uses two categories of cookies: essential cookies that keep you signed in and remember your language preferences, and optional analytics cookies that help us understand aggregate usage through Google Analytics. Essential cookies are required for the service. Analytics cookies load only after you opt in via the consent banner.
You can revisit the cookie controls at any time from the footer or adjust settings in your browser. Clearing cookies may sign you out of WTWatch and reset preferences.
Retention schedule
We keep information for as long as necessary to deliver WTWatch:
- Account details: Active account lifetime, then deleted within 30 days of closure unless law requires longer retention.
- Watchlists and reminders: Until you remove them or close your account.
- Newsletter subscriber data: Retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion; engagement analytics in Mailchimp are purged after 24 months of inactivity.
- Support tickets and feedback: Up to 24 months so we can track follow-ups and product improvements.
- Analytics events: 14 months in Google Analytics, stored in aggregated form only.
- Server logs: Up to 30 days for security monitoring and troubleshooting.
Email and marketing communications
When you sign up for WTWatch newsletters or alerts, we collect your email address and, if you choose to share it, your name. We use this information to send editorial roundups, release calendars, and product updates through Mailchimp. Each message includes an unsubscribe link that instantly removes you from the list, and you can also manage subscriptions from your WTWatch Account settings.
We track basic engagement metrics—such as whether an email was opened or a link was clicked—to understand what content resonates. You can opt out of tracking by disabling images in your email client or unsubscribing at any time.
Security practices
We use HTTPS for all traffic, encrypt data at rest, and limit administrative access to trained team members. Regular audits and automated monitoring help us detect suspicious activity quickly.
If we identify a data breach that affects your information, we will notify you and relevant authorities as required by applicable law.
Children's privacy
WTWatch is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from minors, and we promptly delete any information provided by a child if we learn about it. Parents or guardians can contact privacy@wtwatch.in to request removal.
International data transfers
WTWatch is operated from India, but we may store or process data in other countries through trusted providers like Vercel (global infrastructure), Google (United States), Mailchimp/Intuit (United States), and CoolLikes. We rely on contractual safeguards and industry-standard security to protect your information during these transfers. Using WTWatch means you consent to these transfers.
Policy updates
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect product changes or legal requirements. The “Last updated” date at the top shows the latest revision. For significant changes, we will notify you via email or an in-app banner before the updates take effect.
